Bae Sauce (A Spicy Gochujang and Pear Korean Marinade Sauce)
Say hi to bae sauce. She's spicy, sweet and gets along with everyone. <3
I love this multi-purpose sauce that has a classic Korean flavor profile. Douse it on bibimbap, serve as a dipping sauce for Korean bbq or as a white meat marinade, make spicy tuna filling for sushi with it, add to bulgogi burgers...the list goes on bae.
I will be using this sauce to make Korean pork spare ribs. I can't wait to share it with you!
Also it's made with bae aka Korean pear. :)
- 1 Korean pear, peeled and deseeded, roughly chopped
- 12 cloves of garlic
- 1 inch piece of ginger root (about a thumb size), skin peeled off, roughly chopped
- 1/4 cup gochujang
- 1/4 cup gochugaru
- 1/2 cup light soy sauce
- 1/4 cup sesame oil
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- fresh ground black pepper to taste
- 1/8 to 1/4 cup water
Puree all ingredients until smooth in a blender, adding water as you go until it is the consistency you desire. Some pears may have more water than others.
Store in a closed container in the refrigerator.
