DIY Cucumber + Sugar Hand Scrub

cucumber hand scrub

It's winter time and that automatically makes for drier hands. On top of that, my hands are constantly touching water since I cook a lot. Dish detergent is harsh on skin too.

To remedy this I make a super simple sugar scrub that I keep a jar of next to my kitchen sink. Nutrient and moisture packed cucumbers leave my hands soft and cooled after exposing my hands to heat.

This scrub is great for feet or body too! I love the refreshing scent from the essential oils. To use, take a small dollop onto wet hands and scrub hands. Rinse off with lukewarm water. Pat hands dry. Make sure to store in the fridge.

  • Half a Kirby cucumber, washed and skin on

  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil

  • 3 cups of granulated sugar

  • 5 drops of lemongrass essential oil

  • 5 drops of lemon essential oil

**You can use any essential oil of your choice**

How to make it

In a blender, puree cucumber. Blend in olive oil while pureeing cucumber. Transfer mixture into mixing bowl. Add in essential oil and mix in sugar. If the mixture seems too runny, add in more sugar. Store any unused scrub in the fridge.
